Holidays on the Greek IslandsEach summer millions of young Brits head out to sunny foreign shores to soak up some rays and enjoy more than a few cold drinks. There are many resorts dotted around Europe that are particular hotspots for 18-30 year old tourists. Greece is a country steeped in rich history and culture, but dotted throughout the islands of the Ionian Sea and surrounding Mediterranean are some of Europe’s top holiday hotspots for young revellers, and no country contributes more to the revelry than the UK. Check out this quick guide to three of the most famous resorts across the Greek islands.

Kavos, Corfu

Not that you’ll be that concerned about the geography, but Corfu lies off the west coast of Greece, and the northern parts are adjacent to the Albanian coastline. Kavos is located at the southern tip of the island, a slightly annoying one hour bus journey away from the airport. The resort is fairly small, comprising of one strip with a couple of roads branching off, and during the hot summer dusks at looks strangely like a futuristic Wild West resort with neon lights highlighting the entrances to an assortment of saloon style bars. It’s not classy, but you can be assured that Kavos will give you exactly what it says on a tin if you’re going for a week long drinking holiday. There are regular beach parties outside of the Atlantis nightclub, while the Rolling Stone bar is one of the most memorable places to visit. If you fancy a drinking holiday to this resort, then this Kayos website will give you plenty of information on where to go.

Faliraki, Rhodes

Rhodes lies off the gorgeous south western coast of Turkey, but it’s still a Greek island. Faliraki sits on the east of the island, and is the island’s most developed beach resort with a four mile stretch of sand that sees a sprawl of shops, restaurants and bars further inland. Top bars here include Ziggy’s – home of the island’s most notorious fishbowl. The clubs on offer are again wide ranging, offering a range of tastes and flavours of music, but amongst the most popular are Q Club, with three large rooms playing different kinds of music, and Bed, one of the island’s largest clubs that can fit up to 2,000 revellers. Take a look at Faliraki Info for more on this resort.

Malia, Crete

Crete lies south of the Greek mainland, in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. Malia is a resort on the northern shore of the island, about 25 miles away from the island’s capital of Heraklion. The resort is now one of the leading holiday hotspots for UK clubbers, apparently second only to Ibiza. English tourists will be familiar with the teeming of bars such as Flares and Reflex, although neither of these bars actually have any affiliation with the chains back home. A huge foam party is housed regularly at the Camelot Castle Club. You’ll also want to check out Factory if you’re into your house music and classic tunes.
